In March, 6,133 homes were sold through the Toronto Real Estate Board MLS system, TREB President Marilyn Baubie reported today.

“That’s a six per cent increase over the same month last year, and the best March we’ve seen since the late ‘80s.” The President went on to note that both average and median prices continued to climb last month. Average prices rose marginally to $245,553 from February’s $245,134; and median prices rose a little over 1% to $210,061 from $207,000. Both were up nearly 10% from March of 1999.

Breaking down the total 2,225 sales were reported in TREB’s 28 West districts and averaged $224,808; 967 sales were reported in the 14 Central districts and averaged $364,391; 1,204 sales were reported in the 23 North districts and averaged $245,553; and 1,737 sales were reported in TREB’s 21 East districts and averaged $192,615.
